COSTING & PRICING MADE EASY

Do you find pricing your work difficult to? You are not the only one! In this 90 min morning workshop Patricia van den Akker, will take you step-by-step through the different challenges of costing and pricing your work.  You will:

  • identify why setting a price or value on your work is so hard, and what is stopping you now to ask for a fair price
  • calculate step-by-step the costings of a craft product, so that you learn to calculate the cost price for your work
  • learn how to calculate your hourly or daily rate
  • look at the many different ways to price your work, and select the one that is best for you
  • discuss the different price terminologies so that you are confident and knowledgeable when talking to all your client groups

This workshop is aimed at designers, makers and visual artists who want to learn how to calculate the right price for their work to build a more sustainable creative career or business.

MAKING MORE MONEY

Do you want to earn more money with your creative business?  Do you want to look at alternative income, different routes to market or what areas are most profitable? In this 90min afternoon workshop Patricia van den Akker will take you through the various options of earning an income beyond ‘making’.  You will:

  • get an overview with all the pro and cons of the various income streams that are available to designers and makers, incl. direct selling, whole sale, licensing/royalties, online business, teaching, publishing, service provision, …
  • get loads of practical examples and case studies of other designer and makers who have expanded their business
  • discuss how to choose which options are best for you and your business, and will leave with a clear action plan

This workshop is aimed at designers and makers who have been going for a little while, at mid-career level or are at cross roads and want to look at additional creative ways to make money or to change direction with their creative business.

 

 

Patricia van den Akker is the Director of The Design Trust, and online business school for designers and makers. You can find lots of free business and marketing blogs, as well as opportunities and business training on the website www.thedesigntrust.co.uk

Patricia has worked for more than 10 years as a creative business adviser, trainer, coach and mentor with 100s of creative businesses, especially designers and makers. She writes as The Design Doctor for Crafts Magazine, and she writes guest posts for Etsy, Folksy and other creative business websites. She really likes to share her enthusiasm for ongoing creative and business development, and to show how creative running your own business can be.
