Screen Printing with Emma Gregory

This two day workshop offers a basic grounding in screen printing: how to prep a screen and print using a simple cut paper stencil; how to develop an image from drawn and printed marks; coat and expose screens and layer up to produce screen prints with an autographic and spontaneous quality.

Emma Gregory studied fine art at Central School of Art & Design, after which she followed a number of career paths, working for arts organisations including the Hayward Gallery, National Theatre, and Riverside Studios. More recently she re-established the Bluecoat’s (‘non-toxic’) intaglio studio, and added screen printing. She manages these studios, also teaching and making work from her home in Liverpool.

Emma’s visual arts practice uses natural form as a starting point and her screen prints are loose, using hand drawn marks and monoprinting as a departure point for layering stencils. She is currently working on a project based in the zoological stores of the University of Liverpool. Check out the project blog http://glasswaxandpencil.wordpress.com/

This exciting workshop is for mixed abilities (including beginners) and all materials will be provided.
