Etching with Tracy Hill
25 July – 26 July
Acrylic Soft ground Etching
Conventional acid resistant grounds now have acrylic alternatives. Many of these new products and processes match the traditional technique and quality, such as soft ground and aquatint. These new techniques and materials have given rise to many possibilities in printmaking that did not exist with oil-based grounds.
During this two day introduction to etching with water-based resists and Copper Sulphate we will explore the unique possibilities of working with traditional line as well as capturing the finest imprint from objects pressed against the plate.
Tracy Hill currently works as an artist and Senior Printmaking Technician at UCLan in Preston.
In 2011 Hill was accepted for an International residency at Pyramid Atlantic in Washington DC to share research into acrylic based grounds. New works from the residency were shown in 2011 at the Washington Printmakers Gallery in DC and in 2012 the works were exhibited in The Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston.
