The Invisible Art shows – Where The Wild Things Are (2009, Directed by Spike Jonze)
‘The Invisible Art’ is a monthly series of film screenings that will highlight the artform of film sound and film music.
The format of the screenings:
You will enter the lecture theatre listening to selected pieces of the featured soundtrack.
The film will be preceded with an introduction into elements of the sound design process behind the film. This may come in the format of a short documentary and/or a short talk.
The feature will then play in its entirety.
The intention of playing the complete feature is that the audience will be able to appreciate the full scope and implementation of the sound design, editing, mix and composition within the full context of the film.
This gives a varied approach from a traditional class based lecture where the students may only be shown small segments of the film that demonstrate specific ideas, but out of context with the artists full concept.
The aim of ‘The Invisible Art” is to direct the students interest toward the purpose and role of the soundtrack, conveying its importance in the film making process.
So book your (free) tickets,
bring your popcorn, sit back and enjoy ‘The Invisible Art”
