We have an exciting opportunity for an artist to work with us on our new development at Ceredigion Museum. We are holding an open briefing session on Monday 21st March 2-4pm and if you’d like more information and a brief please contact me on alice.briggs@ceredigion.gov.uk or Carrie Canham museum curator on carrie.canham@ceredigion.gov.uk
I’d be grateful if you could forward to any interested parties.
Ceredigion is looking for an artist or designer to work with community groups to transform the new tourist and information centre, café and museum reception into a stunning attraction that reflects the heritage of Ceredigion and the coliseum theatre.
This forms part of the £1.3 million New Approaches project, to secure the future of the museum by creating opportunities to generate income and attracting more visitors, that has received support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, CADW, The Friends of Ceredigion Museum and a range of trusts and foundations.
Leader of Ceredigion County Council, Councillor Ellen ap Gwynn, said: “The New Approaches project includes lots of ways for members of our community to get involved. Working with the artist will give participants an opportunity to really put their mark on the new development, learn new skills and have some fun.”
The artist will work with the groups to design and create a balustrade for the sweeping staircase, a shop counter and TIC desk, a reception for the museum, a café servery. They will also design the fit out and decoration for the shop and café, creating a unique experience for visitors and a popular attraction for the whole of Ceredigion
Mae Amgueddfa Ceredigion yn chwilio am artist neu ddylunydd i weithio gyda grwpiau cymunedol i drawsnewid y siop a’r Ganolfan Croeso, caffi a derbynfa newydd yr amgueddfa i fod yn atyniad deniadol sydd yn adlewyrchu treftadaeth Ceredigion a Theatr y Colisewm.
Mae hyn yn ffurfio rhan o brosiect Dulliau Newydd gwerth £1.3 miliwn, er mwyn sicrhau dyfodol yr amgueddfa gan greu cyfleoedd i greu incwm a denu mwy o ymwelwyr, sydd wedi derbyn cefnogaeth o Gronfa Dreftadaeth y Loteri, CADW, Cyfeillion Amgueddfa Ceredigion ac ystod o ymddiriedolaethau a sefydliadau.
Dywedodd Arweinydd Cyngor Sir Ceredigion, y Cynghorydd Ellen ap Gwynn: “Mae’r prosiect Dulliau Newydd yn cynnwys llawer o ffyrdd i aelodau o’r gymuned i gymryd rhan. Bydd gweithio gyda’r artist yn rhoi cyfle i’r rhai sy’n cymryd rhan i roi eu marc ar y datblygiad hwn, i ddysgu sgiliau newydd, ac i gael hwyl hefyd.”
Bydd yr artist yn gweithio gyda’r grwpiau i ddylunio a chreu balwstrad ar gyfer y grisiau, cownter i’r siop a desg y Ganolfan Groeso, derbynfa i’r amgueddfa, a llecyn arlwyo yn y caffi. Byddant hefyd yn dylunio phryd a gwedd a dyluniad ar gyfer y siop a’r caffi, gan greu profiad unigryw ar gyfer ymwelwyr ac atyniad poblogaidd ar gyfer Ceredigion gyfan.
