Blind Gallery, a collaborative curatorial project by Harper&Marsh, is an experimental, temporary, interactive art space/installation, consisting of a selection of works presented on roller blinds.
BG2: ‘Blind Composition’, the second in the continuing series of exhibitions, will reveal new pieces by Liverpool-based collaborative duo Harper&Marsh. Exploring participation and interaction within the curatorial construct, Harper&Marsh will expose their own vision of what Blind Gallery is or can be. The title of this exhibition references the considerable body of compositions developed by Piet Mondrian.
Blind Gallery is performative: it begins when the blinds are pulled out, unveiling the works displayed onto the surface; and interactive: audiences are invited to unveil the works. Blind Gallery is reliant on an audience willing to participate and commit to an action that will result in them discovering something new. The audience is freed from its traditional role as an observer and elevated to become an intrinsic element of the artwork.
The project is peripatetic and can be adapted to any number of spaces. Depending on the site, Blind Gallery can be installed onto existing walls and windows, and/or can be installed within a space (within purpose built frames), creating an immersive atmosphere when the blinds are extended.
