Following a successful pilot event at Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2012, JazzCakes have been awarded Arts Council Wales funding to produce a second instalment of ‘100 Books’ at Oriel Wrecsam, Wrexham. The event will take place on the final day of the current Print International 2013 exhibition.
The ‘100 Books’ project organised by JazzCakes brings several artists together on one specified day to collectively produce an edition of 100 books. On the day each artist will produce 100 copies of an artwork by hand.
It is intended that this second instalment of JazzCakes’ 100 Books project will act as a catalyst for future events and projects and also generate much needed publicity both within Wrexham and further afield.
For this project, 25 artists will be asked to produce a hand made edition of 100 2D artworks (A5 size), based on the theme of Wrexham in its broadest sense. The process, or performance, will by its very nature breed discussion amongst the participating artists and potentially lead to collaboration either during the event itself or at a future date. Artists will be asked to consider the loose theme of Wrexham when producing their work.
