Part 2
4 September – 18 September 2014
Private View 4 September 6.00pm
This exhibition features current work from the taught master’s degree students at Glyndŵr University’s School of Art and Design across a range of subjects including, applied arts, fine art, animation, illustration, lens based media and graphic design.
The title Part 2 refers to the course being delivered in two distinct parts; Part 1 is taught and Part 2 is supervised. The exhibition follows on from End of Part 1 (9 June – 22 August 2014) which showcased work from the initial part of the course where students develop the concepts, narratives and working practices that they develop in Part 2.
‘We chose not to entitle the exhibition “End of Part 2” (as we did with Part 1,) because we believe that Part 2 is the beginning for the newly defined artist or designer, not the end of something. In part 2 of the course the individuality of the student is centre stage. It is intended to show the direction of travel our students have defined for themselves, not their destination.
In the exhibition you will find examples of skilful handling of materials, intelligence in concepts, theory in practice and emergent theories deriving from the practice of art and design. Our aim is to engage with you regarding the current developments in the practices we use to explore our creativity and thought processes.’
