The Spectrum Presents – The seven ages of Sega. Computer and Video Games night.

A new monthly games night taking us on a journey from the birth of a concept to it’s current day incarnation. Seven different games systems on four different screens.

This month will be all about Japanese games giant SEGA

1) Sonic The Hedgehog (Sega Mega Drive)

The game that gave birth to Sega’s mascot and icon. This was the game that propelled the Mega Drive to the top of the tree and for many is the defining side-scrolling platformer.

2) Nights Into Dreams (Sega Saturn)

The flagship game of Sega’s ill-fated Saturn. Still regarded as one of the best games Sega ever made.

3) Crazy Taxi (Dreamcast)

A faithful port of Sega’s arcade classic. A race against time to get passenger’s to their destination to make some crazy money.

4) House of the Dead (Dreamcast)

Another faithful port of an arcade classic. A cooperative shooter that took the genre of survival horror to the next level. Run round the House of the Dead blasting Zombies with the Dreamcast’s light gun.

5) Shenmue II (X Box)

Originally released on the Dreamcast, Shenmue was a gaming revolution. With the ability to venture through huge environments in real-time, Shenmue was to Sega what Zelda was to Nintendo. Shenmue II was the last game ever to be released on the Dreamcast and was faithfully ported over to the X Box when Sega retired from producing their final console.

6) F-Zero FX (Gamecube)

Sega produced re-make of the Nintendo SNES classic. Released simultaneously in partnership with Namco for home consoles and in the arcade as part of the three companies’ Triforce project. Race round futuristic tracks at amazingly high speeds.

7) Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games (Wii)

Long standing rivals Mario and Sonic compete for medals at the winter Olympic Games.

FREE ENTRY 7.30pm – 12.00am. People of all ages welcome
