Welsh National Opera will be marking European Opera Days in Wales with a musical trip around the continent at Eagle Meadows Shopping Centre and Odeon Cinema in Wrexham.
From 10am on Saturday 11 May there’ll be the chance to see props and costumes from WNO productions and to take part in free percussion workshops. During the afternoon there’ll be a musical journey across Europe at the Odeon Cinema with singers Ros Evans, Jonathan Ainscough and pianist Annette Bryn Parri. The journey will take in France, Spain and Austria with music from La boheme, Carmen, Don Giovanni, The Merry Widow and The Magic Flute. Those coming along are being encouraged to dress up as their favourite European country, operatic hero, villain or composer. Tickets for the Grand Tour of Europe are £5.
European Opera Days are celebrated every May by opera companies from around the world to show that opera is not an elitist activity and is something that can be enjoyed by everyone. More than 100 opera companies in 24 countries will also be taking part in events over the weekend
