About Peter Read
Peter Read is a poet, playwright, ghost writer, actor and Creative Writing Tutor. As a poet he won the John Tripp Award for the best performance poet in Wales and as a playwright, the NODA Best Stage Production in 2008 for his play Shearer or Me. For his one man show on Dylan Thomas he won five star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe on two consecutive years. He has ghost written seven books, had four other books published and fourteen of his plays have been staged professionally. In addition he has run Creative Writing courses throughout England and Wales and was a Creative Writing lecturer at Swansea University.
About the Course. The course runs from February 5th to March 26th and consists of eight two hour sessions, each beginning at 6pm and finishing at 8pm. It is intended for those who have started to write creatively and are keen to make money from writing, or even consider making a living from it. It is suitable for beginners and more experienced writers.
The course will look at the following elements:
Fighting the demons that stop us writing
Finding ideas for writing
What to say and what not to say to a publisher
The possibilities of self publishing
Getting the balance between writing for profit and pleasure
Grants and Prizes
Go it alone or Find an Agent
Finding work as a writer in the community
Ways of making money from plays, novels, magazines, short stories,radio and television
Being organised as a writer and mapping out the future
