Welsh National Opera are back in Wrexham

Welsh National Opera are back in Wrexham for the third and final year of community work. WNO are organising a number of exciting participatory projects and events this ‘Opera Year’ (September 2013 to end of May 2014). Below are details of the first two projects….

Côr Caia Choir & Wrexham Opera Bus Trip

1) WNO CÔR CAIA CHOIR

A FREE family choir based at the Kingsley Circle Community Centre on the Caia Park Estate, Wrexham. Bringing together children and adults to achieve fun & friendship through singing. The choir was formed in April 2013 and gave their first public performance in St Joseph’s School Wrexham (on National CânSing day in June) alongside Welsh National Opera Singing Doctor Zoe Milton-Brown.

The Choir has re-started for the year and we are looking to recruit more singers! Côr Caia Choir Returns led by the brilliant musical director Jenny Pearson and accompanist Annette Bryn Parri.

• Every Tuesday of Term time 3.30-5pm

• Kingsley Circle Community Centre, Caia Park (LL13 9HG)

• No auditions – No experience needed – All ages welcome – Free tea-time snacks

2) WNO WREXHAM OPERA BUS TRIP (AUTUMN SEASON)

After the success of the WNO Wrexham Opera Trips last season to see La bohème & Madam Butterfly, this autumn the trip is to….

Puccini’s TOSCA Tuesday 22nd October 2013, 7.15pm at Liverpool Empire Theatre

The operatic thriller that goes straight for the heart. Tosca is impossible to resist. With some of the most moving music Puccini will draw you into Floria Tosca and her lover Mario’s story. You will be with them at every twist and turn until one of opera’s most unforgettable endings. Only when the curtain has fallen will you realise how breathlessly captivated by the opera you have been.

The FREE return coach trip from Wrexham will also have a pre-performance talk by Opera Singer Karenna Caun. The coach will leave Wrexham Bus Station (Outside The Fat Cat Bar) at 5.15pm and returning at 11.35pm (approx.)

Ticket prices:-

• £5 for those new to Opera

• £10 for those who have been on a previous WNO Wrexham Opera Bus Trip

Please note this trip is only for those new to opera or people who have been on previous WNO Wrexham Opera Trips.

Another trip will be running from Wrexham on April 1st 2014 (to see La Traviata in Llandudno) – details of which will be emailed out and posted on www.facebook.com/streetsongs.
