Chris Woodward, Annie Nelson and John Slemensek of the artist collective Woolgather will give a talk about their project Woolgather’s Art Vend, which has run successfully in Leeds City Centre since April 2013.
Oriel Wrecsam are now working with Woolgather to bring Art Vend to Wrexham – and will be installing Art Vending machines in Wrexham town centre. This will mean exciting opportunities for local artists and art students to create commissioned artworks.
Come along and learn about the success of Woolgather’s Art Vend, see examples of previously commissioned works, and find out how to become a commissioned artist for Wrexham Art Vend.
Woolgather have commissioned over 75 artists (including students & alumni of local institutions and professional artists across the country) to make artist multiples in sculpture, print, painting, drawing, film, performance and audio works, all small enough to fit into plastic capsules that have been distributed from vending machines to people in Leeds for £1 each.
“The Woolgather art collective – the brains and creatives behind the experiment – appear to be doing good things in Leeds; supporting contemporary artists during the formative stages of their career by organising exhibitions in empty shops, awarding art prizes, encouraging audience participation and now bringing art to the masses. I also have to applaud them for being relatively guff-free, a seeming impossibility in the sphere of contemporary art”

Cyflwyna Woolgather Art – Art Vend
Bydd Chis Woodward, Annie Nelson a John Slemensek o Woolgather Art yn rhoi sgwrs am eu prosiect Art Vend, sydd wedi ei ddangos yn llwyddiannus yng Nghanol Dinas Leeds.
Mae Oriel Wrecsam bellach yn gweithio gyda Woolgather i ddod a Art Vend Wrecsam – a bydd yn gosod peiriannau Art Vending (Gwerthu Celf) yng nghanol tref Wrecsam. Golyga hyn y bydd cyfleoedd cyffrous i artistiaid lleol a myfyrwyr celf i greu gweithiau celf wedi eu comisiynu.
Dewch draw i ddysgu am lwyddiant Art Vend Leeds, gweld enghreifftiau blaenorol o weithiau a gomisiynwyd, a chael gwybod sut i ddod yn artist dan gomisiwn i Art Vend Wrecsam .
Ers mis Ebrill 2013, mae Woolgather wedi bod yn comisiynu artistiaid (gan gynnwys myfyrwyr ac alumini Coleg Celf Leeds) i lunio gweithiau lluosog gan gynnwys cerfluniau, printiau, peintiadau, darluniau, ffilmiau, perfformiadau a gweithiau sain, a phob un yn ddigon bach i fynd i gapsiwl plastig sydd wedi eu dosbarth gan beiriant gwerthu i bobl yn Leeds am £1 yr un.
“Mae’r cymundod celf The Woolgather – yr ymennydd a’r creadigrwydd tu cefn i’r arbrawf – yn ymddangos i fod yn gwneud pethau da yn Leeds; yn cefnogi artistiaid cyfoes yng nghamau cynta eu gyrfa trwy drefnu arddangosfeydd mewn siopau gwag, dyfarnu gwobrau celf, annog cyfranogiad cynulleidfa a nawr yn dod â chelf i’r lluoedd. Mae’n rhaid i mi eu cymeradwyo hefyd am fod yn gymharol ddi-lol, rhywbeth fel petai’n amhosib yn y maes celf gyfoes.”
