PUBLIC EVENT – Creative Futures Glyndwr Presents:

___Simon O’Rourke: Illustration to Tree Carving!___
Simon O’Rourke, professional artist, tree carver and sculptor will discuss how he got started in what has now become a successful tree carving/sculpture business. He will give insight in to his career from its early days in 2005 to present day. Simon has built a large customer base, taken part in diverse projects and travelled the world with his work and will pass on advice from his own experiences.

___Biography___
Simon was always interested in art, particularly illustration and studied Art at Glyndŵr University. Needing work whilst studying, he took a job as a tree surgeon and whilst doing this he saw someone doing some tree carving and decided to give it a try. He decided to branch out on his own and divided his time between tree surgery and tree carving and in 2005 set up his own tree carving company. My chainsaw carving exploits have taken me all around the world. He has now competed in chainsaw carving competitions in the USA, Japan, Canada, Holland, Germany, Denmark and the UK, placing highly in many of them.
