If you have ever wanted to try your hand at the seemingly complicated process of reduction linocut then this two day course should appeal to you. Over the course of the two days the enthusiastic beginner can learn the process of reduction linocut printing under the guidance of a knowledgeable and sympathetic tutor. The course will look at the techniques, materials and tools necessary to produce your own colour print. The tutor, Ian Phillips, has a lot of experience in coaxing a print from everyone on the course and you will be amazed by what you will achieve in such a short time. This method is ideal for the first time printmaker and those who already paint or draw but would like to try a different technique.

Ian Phillips studied Illustration at Leicester Polytechnic and after graduation worked as a freelance Illustrator in London producing linocut illustrations for magazine, design and publishing clients. In 2001 he moved to Wales to concentrate on his own landscape linocut work. He has now been working with lino for over twenty years and specialises in the exacting process of reduction printing. He has become slightly obsessive about the joys of printmaking and, when not producing his own prints, teaches others to appreciate the craft and art of print from his studio in Machynlleth.

Os ydych wedi bod â’ch bryd ar roi cynnig ar y broses ymddangosedig gymhleth o wneud torluniau leino wedi graddoli, yna dylai’r cwrs deuddydd hwn apelio atoch. Yn ystod y ddau ddiwrnod, gall y dechreuwr brwdfrydig ddysgu’r broses o wneud torluniau leino wedi graddoli o dan arweiniad tiwtor gwybodus a chydymdeimladol. Bydd y cwrs yn edrych ar y technegau, y deunyddiau a’r offer angenrheidiol i greu eich argraffiad lliw eich hun. Mae gan y tiwtor, Ian Phillips, brofiad helaeth o ennyn argraffiad gan bawb ar y cwrs a byddwch yn rhyfeddu ar yr hyn y gallwch ei gyflawni mewn cyfnod mor fyr. Mae’r dull hwn yn ddelfrydol i’r cyw-argraffydd a’r rheiny sydd eisoes yn paentio neu’n tynnu lluniau ond sy’n awyddus i roi cynnig ar dechneg newydd.

Astudiodd Ian Phillips Ddarlunio yng Ngholeg Polytechnig Caerlŷr ac ar ôl graddio, gweithiodd fel darlunydd llawrydd yn Llundain gan greu darluniau o dorlun leino ar gyfer cleientiaid ym meysydd cylchgronau, dylunio a chyhoeddi. Symudodd i Gymru yn 2001 er mwyn canolbwyntio ar ei waith ei hun yn gwneud torluniau leino tirweddol. Bellach, mae wedi bod yn gweithio gyda leino am dros ugain mlynedd ac mae’n arbenigo yn y broses fanwl o argraffu wedi graddoli. Datblygodd rywfaint yn obsesiynol am bleserau argraffu, a phan na fydd yn argraffu ei hun, mae’n dysgu eraill i werthfawrogi’r grefft a chelfyddyd argraffu yn ei stiwdio ym Machynlleth.
